Way back April of 2010 before Anawangin Cove became a popular tourist
spot in Zambales my college friends and I experienced the grand pristine
white sands of the said spot.
Anawangin Cove is situated at
Pundaquit, San Antonio Zambales. There are two way to get there, the easy and
difficult route. No sweat and hassle free, rent a boat back and forth in just 30
minutes you’ll reach the wonderful shoreline of Anawangin. But if you wanted an
extreme adventure, trekking the treacherous Mt. Pundaquit is perfect for you
and your troop. The rocky slope of the Mountain adds an exotic appeal and
difficult path to hikers, 4 to 5 long hours of trekking before reaching the
other side of the mountain which is Anawangin Cove, all the sweat is worth it
once you’ve set foot in the shoreline of the cove.

Going back, Aye (Ariel) invited
us to visit his province as well as to celebrate his graduation bash in
Zambales. Right after our Graduation Ball we packed our things for a 4 days 3 nights all out barkada party to
date.
DAY 1: Off to Zambales
Since my other friends are still
complying and reporting in School we’ve decided to travel by batch. I joined the
first set; we’ve headed in Victory Central (Caloocan) Station off to San
Antonio, Zambales fare is around 275 pesos (present your school ID and
registration form and you’ll receive discount) an approximately 4 hours travel
via NLEX and according to Aye from the plaza a 5 minutes walk from their home.

was already prepared.

DAY 2: Anawangin Cove
We all woke up early in the
morning and we’re off to Anawangin Cove. We ride a kuliglig and we’ve seen vast
farm lands, rivers and Nipa huts around the area. Memorable

We’ve rented a boat for 1500 back
and forth per batch (3 batches for 4500 pesos).

When I saw the shoreline of
Anawangin Cove from a far, I’ve personally noticed the pine trees scattered all
over the place. Amazing!

I’ve seen lots of beaches to date
but seeing Pine Trees by the bay was surreal. Upon reaching the place, we immediately set up our tent and pre
heat our food and enjoyed the luke warm salt water of Anawangin.

We’ve played games, had some
group talk and the most relaxing part was sleeping under the Pine Trees
together. Groupies
Before sunset we’ve decided to
roam around the Cove. We’ve headed in right side when you’re facing the sea. We’ve
walked in the rocky side of Anawangin and one of my friends suggested to trek
the nearby cliff. Arem, Julius, Andrew and I push thru with the idea while the
others go back to our campsite. Climbing in the stiff cliff without wearing sandals is really painful in our feet but the view up there was beyond compare and all the exhaustion is worthy.

After dinner, we slept in the
sand glazing the bright stars above side by side, whispering to each other for future events together. Priceless
DAY 3: Enjoying Anawangin | Off to the Farm
Sunrise by the sand, thanking the
Creator for another wonderful day with my friends and before leaving Anawangin
Cove, we’ve explored the nearby river which is connected to the sea. Wonders of Nature
Facing the sea, we’ve walked in the left most side and climbed a small hill. Superb! Overlooking Anawangin Cove to its perfect view. Wow!

In the afternoon, we went to the
farm owned by the family of Aye. For this season, they’ve planted peanut. We’ve
stayed there for a while and decided to go home afterwards.

DAY 4: Bound to Manila
Right after lunch time we thanked
the Family of Aye for accommodating our needs for the passed days.
We ride an ordinary bus off to
Olongapo and from there we took an air-conditioned bus headed back to Manila. Tiresome
AUTHOR’S NOTE: One of my memorable barkada trip to date, most
attended out of town getaway by my college friends. I missed traveling with them, hoping someday we'll all reunite laughing out load of our naughty acts during our younger years. Thanks for reading, till our next adventure.
