Upon reading the monumental mark outside the opening of the cave I personally found out that Macahambus Cave was used as hiding place by revolutionaries during the Filipino – American War of Independence in 1900. Aside from its historical value, the said cavern is part of the tropical Macahambus forest and home to local bats with an estimated 57 meters in length.

Around 2 o’clock in the afternoon we’re now headed in CDO proper and we wish to prolong our road trip from our long drive in Bukidnon. We’ve talked to our driver if we can visit Macahambus Cave which is not included in our itinerary supposedly we’ll be discovering Mapawa Nature Park but due to weather condition in Mindanao we’ve dropped the idea of rappelling . He agreed right away and we’re lucky to explore the place.
Inside the grotto was spacious room and at the end of it is veranda overlooking the scenic view of Cagayan River we’re we experienced White Water Rafting.

After taking solo and group photos inside the cave as well as with the markings we call it a day.
AUTHOR’S NOTE: The said cave is located at Macahambus hills in the Misamis Oriental near Cagayan de Oro to get there ride jeepney with Talakag route if you’re in the city proper. This is must see and most visited spot in CDO. Seize the moment to explore the area, after all there no entrance fee.
