Kawit, Cavite : Maytinis 2013

I must say, Kawit Cavite is my second home. I’ve almost spent every summer of my childhood there where my relatives reside near the Saint Mary Magdalene Church. Every December, The church religiously committed to uplift the spirit of Catholicism by showcasing biblical events and characters in the form of parade escorted by harmonious band of every local town that participate the yearly event which is called Maytinis.
Maytinis is a century old traditional procession to signify the message of the Holy Scripture held in Kawit during Christmas Eve. Every year, a host will be in charge in all the activities and expenses of the said event. From the production up to designing and lighting of the Church, the AMA and INA of the year will work hand in hand to make the much anticipated event be the best and successful as always.

Participating municipality of Cavite will be represented by a float or carosa in Filipino-Spanish term accompanied by bands, majorettes and street dancer.

Adam and Eve will open the parade as humankind starts with them and ends with special float displaying the year’s theme. All the costumed made hover starts at the Freedom Park in front of the Aguinaldo Shrines, will take a specific route and will end at the Saint Mary Magdalene Church to conclude with a Mass.

Indeed a historical, biblical and traditional event in one to honor and glorify the word of the Lord. A colorful and meaningful occasion only found in the Philippines.

AUTHOR’S NOTE: At 5 o’clock in the after every 24th of December, the road off to Wakas, Kawit Cavite will be temporarily closed to give way in the yearly occasion of the place. The well designed float will be awarded as well as the most organized and well sound band will receive cash prize and token from the sponsors. I must say, this is must see event and close to my heart, I used to be excited during my childhood to watch this because it indulge my eyes with so much colors and light. Bringing back the memories of my younger years. Hoping to attend Maytinis next cycle as I mark my fifth year witnessing this event with my family.
